Developer & API Terms
Last updated: September 2026
These terms govern access to and use of the Textent API and developer tools. They supplement our Terms of Service.
1. Scope
These Developer & API Terms (the Developer Terms) govern your access to and use of the Textent application programming interface, webhooks, and related developer tools (together, the API). They supplement, and form part of, our Terms of Service. If there is a conflict, these Developer Terms control with respect to the API.
2. Access and credentials
API access may require credentials such as API keys or OAuth tokens. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secret and for all activity that occurs under them. Do not share credentials, and rotate them promptly if you believe they have been exposed. We may revoke credentials that are abused or that pose a risk to the Service.
3. Acceptable use of the API
You must use the API in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy and any documented limits. You must not:
- exceed published rate limits or attempt to circumvent them;
- use the API to replicate, compete with, or build a substantially similar service to Textent;
- cache or store data beyond what is necessary to operate your integration, or in a way that conflicts with our Privacy Policy or a user instruction;
- misrepresent your application or its relationship to Textent.
4. Rate limits and availability
The API is subject to rate limits and quotas that we may change to protect the Service. We may modify, deprecate, or remove API endpoints. Where a change is breaking, we will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice through our developer documentation or other channels.
5. Data and end users
If your application processes data on behalf of Textent users, you must handle that data in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable law, use it only for the purpose the user authorized, and provide your own privacy notice to your users.
6. Your application
You are responsible for your application, its security, and its compliance with law. We are not liable for your application or for any loss arising from it. You will indemnify Textent against claims arising from your application or your use of the API, as set out in the Terms of Service.
7. Changes and termination
We may update these Developer Terms, or suspend or terminate API access, if you breach them, if your use poses a risk, or as otherwise permitted in the Terms of Service. Provisions that should survive termination will survive.
